GENERATION OF RADIATION IN DIODE LASERS BASED ON LEAD CHALCOGENIDES PbSSe AS A RESULT OF SELF-REDISTRIBUTION OF CURRENT IN THE CASE OF NONUNIFORM HEATING IN THE ACTIVE-LAYER PLANE
Authors:
M.S. Murashov.

Abstract:
A thermal mechanism of the formation of oscillations in diode lasers is revealed in an analysis of the development of radiation generation in the diffused-diode lasers based on lead chalcogenides PbSSe under the conditions of the passive-region heating accompanied by a nonmonotone variation of current. This mechanism consists in the modulation of the refractive index in the active-layer plane due to the development of temperature-current instability caused by the effect of self-redistribution of current following a local decrease in voltage across the p-n junction as a result of nonuniform heating in the active-layer plane.
