Title: SMALL-SCALE COPPER- AND GOLD VAPOR LASER FOR RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY Authors: A.S. Nasibov, N.N. Melnik, I.V. Ponomarev. Abstract: Problems of the use of a new generation of metal vapor lasers in Raman spectroscopy are discussed. Experimental results obtained in a comparative study of gallium phosphide, silicon, and graphite with the aid of the metal vapor lasers and an argon laser are presented. Owing to the pulsed nature of radiation with improved energy and time characteristics, the metal vapor lasers are shown to be a good alternative to the argon laser which is commonly used in spectroscopy as a radiation source. Moreover, they offer much promise for the spectroscopic studies of various fast processes, especially under conditions of parasitic background illumination and a weak signal.
