Abstract:
An exactly solvable model for the description of particle-like excitations of the electromagnetic field in a nonlinear medium with gain and loss, which are named autosolitons, is proposed. In the approximation of large Fresnel numbers, the solution of the nonlinear wave equation is obtained, which describes the spatial distribution of a light wave in a confocal laser cavity containing a thin-layer semiconductor amplifier and a saturable absorber.
