Title: ON IDENTITY OF PARTICLES IN CLASSICAL STATISTICAL PHYSICS Authors: M.L. Khazin. Abstract: The problem of identity in classical statistical physics is discussed. The problem is topical, in particular, because in a number of guidebooks (see, e.g., [7], p. 143) identity is essentially used in the derivation of Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution. The question arises of whether this condition is necessary. To answer this question, three approaches, namely, probabilistic, dynamic, and computer simulation have been applied. It has been shown that the identity condition is not necessary in the derivation of Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution and that the identity concept itself is conditional and depends on the aim of calculation within the framework of a problem.
