OBSERVATION OF ANOMALOUS LINES IN THE ESR SPECTRA OF BaKBiO AND BaPbBiO SYSTEMS

Abstract:
The electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra in the ??1-x???i03 (BKBO) and BaPbxBi1-xO3 (BPBO) systems were studied in a wide range of temperatures and compositions. In addition to the ESR lines corresponding to g = 2.1 and g = 4.2, the lines with intermediate values of the g factor were observed. The anomalous lines are related to local distortions of the lattice in the vicinity of irreqularities in the system of ordered covalent bonds between a metal ion (Cu, Bi) and oxygen. The results are indicative of the existence of oxygen ions with different effective charges, i.e., of the electron-density wave in the oxygen sublattice in addition to charge ordering in the metal sublattice.
