Abstract:
The problem of light wave propagation in a medium of disordered two-level atoms is considered. The possibility of localization of photons with frequency close to the resonance one is pointed out. The critical concentration of atoms, for which localization of light occurs, is estimated in the mean field approximation which oversteps the limits of the one-photon problem. An increase in the intensity of light wave emission is shown to suppress the localization effects.
