SURFACE NONLINEAR MAGNETO OPTICAL EFFECTS IN ANTIFERROMAGNETIC CRYSTALS WITH RHOMBIC SYMMETRY
Authors:
A.K. Zvezdin.

Abstract:
Formulas defining the surface second-harmonic dipole moment induced by an incident electromagnetic wave were derived using the tools of irreducible of the crystal space groups. The surface dipole moment involves a T-odd component, i.e., a component changing sign with time reversal. The contribution of this component determines the Kerr effects at the second harmonic and can be used to visualize the spin structures of the surface and interfaces. The Kerr nonlinear effect is shown to allow detection of the antiferromagnetic domains in a zero external magnetic field.
