1. Title:
SCATTERING OF SLOW NEUTRONS IN HYDROGEN-CONTAINING MEDIA
Authors:
K.V. Vladimirskii.

Abstract:
The influence of chemical bonds on the scattering of slow neutrons in hydrogen-containing media is studied for energies close to the radiation disruption level. The scattering accompanied by excitation of molecular vibration was studied in detail previously. The aim of this paper is to show that the electronic state changes, too, are an important element of the scattering process. Its probability is high, the energy absorbed is much larger then that for the molecular vibration. This leads to drastic changes in the scattering compared with previous treatments disregarding the chemical bonds.
