OBSERVATION OF MESOSPHERIC OZONE AT MILLIMETER WAVELENGTHS

Abstract:
The observational technique is described and some results of spectral observations of mesospheric ozone at millimeter radio waves above the Moscow region are presented. To increase the accuracy of the ozone content determination in the mesosphere, the thermodynamic temperature was synchronously measured at the mesopause altitudes in the same area of the sky from the hydroxyl emission in the near IR spectral region. Simultaneous measurements of the ozone and hydroxyl emission at respectively MM and IR wavelengths, were conducted for the first time. The results obtained are consistent with the well-known rocket and satellite data on the ozone content above 50 km.
