THE KINETIC MODEL OF CHEMICAL OSCILLATIONS IN THE PROCESS OF ORGANIC ANION ADSORPTION ON PASSIVE IRON

Abstract:
A mathematical model of chemical oscillations arising in the process of organic anion adsorption on passive iron is proposed. While studying the adsorption with the help of ellipsometry we discovered that at the beginning of the process the ellipsometric angles Δ and Ψ oscillate and the amplitudes of oscillations decrease with time. After a number of oscillations, the variation of angles becomes monotone and ultimately attain constant values. This was interpeted as oscillations of the concentration of the various chemical adsorbate forms in the near-electrode layer. Thus the auto-oscillatory regime appears in this chemical reaction which then transforms into the relaxation one. The system of equations simulating such a process is constructed and its solutions are found.
