AUTO-OSCILLATORY INSTABILITY IN THE COURSE OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL CRYSTALLIZATION OF SUPERCOOLED TWO-COMPONENT MELTS
Authors:
F.K. Mirzoev, L.A. Shelepin.

Abstract:
A model of temporal self-organization of structures in the course of three-dimensional crystallization of supercooled two-component melts is suggested. It is shown that if the pump parameter exceeds a certain critical value governed by the internal properties of a medium, the steady-state crystallization loses stability and transforms into an auto-oscillatory mode which is characterized by periodic oscillations in the density and growth rate of the new-phase particles and also in the disperse-phase temperature and the concentrations of the components. It is ascertained that the physical cause of oscillations is a competition between the source of nucleating particles and their drain under the effect of the buoyancy or gravity forces.
