Title: NONSPECIFIC PENETRABILITY VARIATION IN THE CYTOPLASMIC MEMBRANE OF ERYTHROCYTES AND MUSCULAR CELLS Authors: M.V. Fok, G.A. Zaritskaya. Abstract: It is shown that the cytoplasmic membrane of erythrocytes can vary its oxygen penetrability by four orders of magnitude, while the muscular cell membrane can do that by approximately a factor of 300, its minimum penetrability being close to the erythrocyte membrane penetrability. At the same time, though the molecular mechanism of penetrability variation in membranes of these cells is in principle identical, and the penetrability variation in both cases is caused by the membrane field variation, the field variation range in the erythrocyte membrane is not overlapped with that of the muscular cell membrane. Hence, the membranes of these cells differ strongly in magnitude of a certain yet unknown parameter.
