SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF DATA ON THE SUNSPOT FORMATION OVER THE LAST 2650 YEARS
Authors:

Abstract:
We present the results of spectral analysis of the Wolf numerical series obtained from instrumental observations of the Sun (since 1610) and employing data on geoeffects (observed before 1610) which are correlated with the sunspot formation. We show that the series has a line spectrum with two lasting stable lines with periods of 11.080 ? 0.006 years and ~ 198 years. In the modified sign-variable numerical series (the 22-year Hale series), along with the line with a period of 22.15 years, a line with a period of 19.86 years is observed which coincides with the synodic rotation period of the Jupiter?Saturn pair. The empirical relation is found which relates the period of 22.15 years with the period of 19.86 years and with the period of 178.77 years of Sun rotation around the center of mass. The results obtained testify to the fact that planets affect the sunspot formation.
