Abstract:
Electrical resistance and magnetization of Sm0.5Sr0.5MnO3 single crystals are investigated in various conditions including strong static and pulsed magnetic fields. It is shown that as the temperature lowers, in the absence of a magnetic field the compound passes over from the paramagnetic to a locally charge-ordered state at T1 ≈ 220 K and to an A type antiferromagnetic state at T2 ≈ 175 K. At low temperatures, under the action of strong magnetic fields there occurs transition to the ferromagnetic conducting state. The phase T-Hcr diagram of Sm0.5Sr0.5MnO3 is established.
