EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE ELECTRON TRAPPING COEFFICIENT IN A MICROTRON

Abstract:
The results of experiments with a newly constructed microtron emitter are presented. The emitter consists of two materials with essentially different work functions of electrons. The material with a higher work function was used to manufacture the parts of the emitter from which electrons are injected with a high value of the coordinate perpendicular to the median plane. With the new emitter construction and injection currents of 150 ? 200 mA, the trapping coefficient was increased three to four times. With high emission currents, the trapping coefficient fails to reach the value typical of the traditional emitter construction.
