OBTAINING ELLIPTICALLY POLARIZED WAVES WITH THE HELP OF TRANSITION RADIATION
Authors:
B.M. Bolotovskii, A.V. Serov.

Abstract:
We consider transition radiation due to a successive intersection of two gratings by a charge. The gratings are made of parallel metallic wires. The grating planes are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the direction of charge motion. The conductors of one of the gratings are perpendicular to those of the other grating. It is shown that the occurring transition radiation has elliptic polarization and that the degree of ellipticity and the direction of rotation depend on the distance between the gratings and the charge velocity.
