LINEAR MAGNETOELECTRIC EFFECT IN NANOCOMPOSITE MEDIA

Abstract:
We consider the amplification of magnetoelectric effect in a com?posite medium which is a matrix ? a dielectric with a large di?electric constant ? and with impregnated small magnetic particles possessing magnetoelectric effect. We show that in such a medium the magnetoelectric effect is amplified by a factor of (?effc + l)f\ where /ceff is an effective polarizability of the composite, ? is the Lorentz factor, and f is the filling factor f = Nv, where N is the concentration of magnetic particles and v is the particle volume.
