Abstract:
A new method to determine the two-photon absorption cross sec?tion of a nonlinear medium has been proposed, in which the value of the cross section is derived from the two-photon STS-2 thresh?old. Using this method, the two-photon absorption cross section of hexane for radiation with ? = 308 nm (XeCI excimer laser) is found to be a2 = 2 ? 10"50 cm4s.
