Abstract:
Infrared fluorescence of the dysprosium complex of 5, 10, 15, 20-tetraphenylporphyrin (DyTPP) in Langmuir films and its en?hancement under the action of lanthanide thenoyltrifluoroacet-onates - Ln(TTA)3 (Ln3+ = Eu3+,Tb3+,Tm3+,Lu3+) - have been studied. The possibility of intermolecular and intramolecular en?ergy transfer between Ln(TTA)3 and DyTPP and between the TPP-ligand and Dy3+ ion, respectively, is shown. It is the energy transfer that enhances the Dy3+ fluorescence. The fluorescence enhancement is shown to depend on the Dy3+/Ln(TTA)3 ratio and to approach a maximum when the Dy3+ concentration is 2-4 orders of magnitude lower than the Ln(TTA)3 concentration. The enhancement is independent of the fluorescent properties of the lanthanides. The influence of the polarity of the working surface of the Langmuir?Blodgett film and the lanthanide electronegativity on the enhancement of the Dy3+ ion fluorescence is studied.
