Abstract:
The efficiency of runaway electron beam formation in helium and neon is simulated by the method of multiparticle dynamics. The efficiency is defined as a fraction of electrons that came to the anode with an energy exceeding two thirds of the energy gained during the free motion. The calculations show that the depen?dence of the interelectrode voltage for which a given fraction of runaway electrons is formed on the product of pressure by the electrode spacing has the form that agrees qualitatively with the escape curve introduced before. For not very high efficiency val?ues rj < 20% the escape curves practically coincide with the curves of equal efficiency.
