INFLUENCE OF ENVIRONMENT ON THE FLUORESCENCE OF LANTHANIDE COMPLEXES OF PORPHYRINS. II. Fluorescence of the Yb complex of mesotetraphenylporphyrin in solutions

Abstract:
Comparison studies of the influence of fatty acids with different lengths of aliphatic substituent (Ci5 ? ?2?) and lipid (dipalmitoyl L-of-phosphatidylcholine) on the fluorescence of the Yb complex of mesotetraphenylporphyrin (YbTPP) in dichloromethane solutions have been performed. It is shown that the YbTPP fluorescence in?tensity in the visible and IR spectral ranges is affected by the fatty acids and lipid added to the solution. The maximum YbTPP fluo?rescence was observed in the visible for the ratios YbTPP/stearic acid = 3:2 and YbTPP/lipid = 2:3. For the solutions contain?ing arachidic acid (C2o), the YbTPP fluorescence intensity in the visible region (680 nm) is ~ 15 times higher than that in stearic (C18) and behenic (C22) acids. In the IR region (975 nm), however, the fluorescence intensity in the solution with stearic acid is 4 -8 times higher than that in the solutions containing other fatty acids.
