Abstract:
Thermal expansion of (Sr1−xLax)3Ru2O7 single crystals is measured by the dilatometric method in the temperature range from 4.2 to 80 K. The influence of a magnetic field up to 3.5 T on this expansion is studied. The thermal expansion in the temperature range T ?? 18 K is found to be anomalous (negative). The magnetic field has a strong effect on the position and width of the anomalous region. The nature of the thermal expansion anomaly in ruthenates is discussed. The relation of this anomaly to the crystal lattice stability and similarity of the nature of anomalies of thermal properties of ruthenates and high-temperature superconductors are considered.
