Abstract:
The photovoltaic properties of ??-carotin (??-C) and mesotetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) in Langmuir−Schaefer films and the photovoltaic properties of films of the mixture of ??-C and TPP are investigated for different mole ratios of components on optically transparent SnO2 electrodes. For similar conditions of film preparation, the photopotential of the mixture films containing 40 to 80 mol.% of ??-C was revealed to exceed the photopotential of single-component ??-C and TPP films. The maximum increase of the photopotential was observed for the ??-C content = 80 mol.%. For the indicated ratio of components, the photopotential of the mixture films exceeds the photopotential of TPP films 1.4, 1.4, and 1.3 times and the photopotential of ??-C films 2.7, 2.6, and 2.4 times for the load resistance (RH) = 104, 105, and 106 Ohm, respectively. The properties of the films were controlled by measuring the absorption spectra. The dependence of the optical density on the mole ratio of pigments is nonlinear. The maximum optical density in the region of Soret band of TPP (437 nm) and at the ??-C absorption peaks (476 and 516 nm) was observed in films with a 1-to-1 TPP-to-??-C mole ration.
