Title: INSTABILITY OF CYLINDRICAL CAVITY IN A VISCOUS LIQUID
WITH A NEGATIVE TENSION COEFFICIENT Authors: S.I. Yakovlenko, E.M. Yurkov. Abstract: Stability of a cylindrical cavity in a viscous liquid is considered not for the case of surface tension, but for surface repulsion. It is shown that for a negative tension coefficient the axisymmetric mode is unstable under perturbations with a wavelength shorter than the circumference of the cavity cross section and is stable under perturbations with a wavelength longer than the cavity circumference. The velocity of the surface motion during the development of instability is characterized by the value proportional to the surface repulsion coefficient and inversely proportional to the coefficient of dynamic viscosity.
