Abstract:
The formation of a toroidal plasma vortex in air at atmospheric pressure is studied. Using experimental data and the laws of conservation we derive an equation for the estimation of the initial velocity of translational motion of the vortex in terms of the characteristics of the plasmatron and the environment. The solution of this equation is shown to agree satisfactorily with experimental data.
