Abstract:
We present the theory of efficiency of fifth and seventh harmonic generation in plasma produced by ionization of hydrogen-like atoms with electrons in excited states. For the case of third harmonic we show how the well-known theory of third harmonic generation in plasma of ionized hydrogen-like atoms with electrons in the ground state can be extended to the case of excited atoms. The dependences on the strength and polarization of the pumping electric field, which are responsible for the harmonic generation efficiency, are established.
