Abstract:
The propagation of fast avalanche electrons in nitrogen in an inhomogeneous nonstationary electric field is simulated. It is shown that for some combinations of the voltage pulse rise time and the pulse amplitude within a certain time interval, the center of gravity of the electron cloud can move in the direction opposite to the direction of force acting on the electrons. It is also shown that the number of fast particles grows not only with increasing voltage amplitude, but also with shortening pulse rise time.
