Abstract:
We investigate the possibility of applying the numerical difference methods to the solution of the problem of spinodal decomposition using the unstable branch of the (van der Waals) equation of state. Within this approach, the initial stage of phase transformation turns out to be close to isothermal. The maximum value of the explosive pressure jump depends weakly on the computational mesh parameters, as distinct from the general space-time pattern of this process.
