Abstract: The thermal expansion of Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6 single crystals with different doping levels was measured at low temperatures. The magnetic field effect on the Bi2Sr2−xLaxCuO6 thermal expansion was studied. At T < 20 K, an anomalous (negative) thermal expansion was revealed whose characteristics depend on the level of sample doping. These characteristics were found to be strongly affected by a moderate magnetic field. The experimental results confirmed the conclusions suggested by the model which explains the anomalous thermal expansion in high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) at low temperatures and the strong effect of the magnetic field on it by a stabilizing role of the charge density wave (CDW) in the oxygen sublattice.
