Abstract:
A new light amplifier/converter was developed on the basis of two series connected photosensitive and light-emitting organic diodes with spatial separation of photocurrent multiplication and electroluminescence. In the light-emitting component, the active layer consisted of terbium salicylate [Tb(Sal)3(TPPO)2] (HSal is the salicylate acid and TPPO is the triphenylphosphine oxide). In the photosensitive component, the perylene dye (2,9-dimethyl-anthra (2,1,9-def,6,5,10-d'e'f') diisoquinoline-1,3,8,10-tetraone (Me-PTC) was used. The long-wavelength (600 nm) light was converted into the narrow bands of Tb(Sal)3(TPPO)2 emission in the range of 490 − 650 nm (with maximum radiation intensity at ??max ~ 545 nm). A model of the device operation is proposed, and the processes of photocurrent multiplication and voltage redistribution between the device components are shown to affect each other significantly and to determine the device operation.
