Abstract:
We investigated the dependences of Er3+ ion luminescence band intensities for screens and ceramics of Y2O2S:Yb,Er crystal phosphors on the temperature and intensity of excitation by semiconductor IR lasers (in the range of 0.8 − 1.0 ??m). From the measurement of the ratio of Er3+ ion luminescence band intensities (transitions from 4S3/2 and 2H11/2 into 4I15/2) in the region of 0.51 and 0.56 ??m it was established that the main cause of the decrease in the luminescence efficiency for the power density higher than 10 W/cm2 is the development of temperature quenching which limits the luminescence brightness for other ways of excitation as well. The schemes of interion processes responsible for temperature and nonlinear quenching of Er3+ ion luminescence were considered.
