Title: RESONANCE SCATTERING OF ATOMS UNDER THE ACTION
OF STIMULATED LIGHT PRESSURE FORCE IN A SPATIALLY INHOMOGENEOUS PULSED FIELD OF A STANDING LIGHT WAVE Authors: G.A. Ryabenko, V.A. Grinchuk, I.A. Grishina, M.L. Nagaeva, N.M. Tilenin, V.P. Yakovlev. Abstract: The scattering of a beam of sodium atoms in the pulsed field of two counterpropagating resonance laser beams is analyzed. The experimentally measured momentum distribution function of scattered atoms is compared with the results of theoretical numerical calculation. The experimental and theoretical values of the maximum momentum acquired by the atoms under the action of stimulated light pressure in the field of a standing light wave show good agreement. The form of the experimental distribution is shown to depend strongly on the spatial distribution of radiation intensity in the laser beam cross section.
