Abstract: The interaction of bacteriorhodopsin with carbon nanofibers (40−100 nm in diameter) was studied for the first time by atomic-force microscopy. The formation of planar nanostructures 200−250 nm wide in films grown by evaporation of an aqueous solution was demonstrated. Langmuir films containing nanofibers and lipid were obtained. The interaction between nanofibers and Triton ?-100 was studied.
