Abstract:
Description and specifications of the APA-1 tethered balloon to be used for lifting scientific instrumentation and maintaining its long-term continuous operation at a specified altitude are presented. The balloon is specially designed for Arctic and Antarctic conditions and is intended for measuring the energy spectrum and shape of the spatial distribution function of the Cherenkov light produced by an extensive air shower (EAS) in the energy range from 1015 to 1018 eV.
