CALCULATION OF THE MOTION OF THE LASER RADIATION ABSORPTION THERMAL WAVE IN A FIBERGUIDE

Abstract:
The thermal wave of laser radiation absorption in the laser light guide core is investigated on the basis of the nonstationary two-dimensional thermal conductivity equation. The wave propaga?tion velocities are calculated as functions of laser radiation in?tensity and the threshold intensity values are found for which the heating wave occurs. It is shown that for high intensities the wave velocity is qualitatively described by the formula known from the combustion theory and is proportional to the square root of the radiation intensity. The calculated threshold values of laser radi?ation intensity agree well with the available experimental data.
