1. Title:
OVERCOOLING OF THE HOT CORE OF A LASER-PRODUCED PLASMA BY ELECTRON THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY IN COOL AMBIENT PLASMA
Authors:
S.A. Maiorov.

Abstract:
When an ultrashort, ultrahigh-power laser pulse is focused in a gas, the hot core of the laser-produced plasma of multiply charged ions is surrounded by a vast plasma domain with a substantially lower temperature. We show the feasibility of a significantly and fast, as compared with the relaxation times, cooling of the hot plasma core due to the electron thermal conductivity in the cool ambient plasma. The overcooling of plasma of multiply charged ions improves the conditions for obtaining the population inversion of ion levels and amplifying far UV radiation.
