Title: THE EFFECT OF FILLING MATERIAL ON THE ORIENTATION
OF POLYETHYLENE MACROMOLECULES IN POLYETHYLENE/CLAY NANOCOMPOSITES Authors: E.A. Sagitova, K.A. Prokhorov, G.Y. Nikolaeva, D.N. Kozlov, P.P. Pashinin, E.M. Antipov, V.A. Gerasin, M.A. Guseva, A.V. Rebrov. Abstract: Raman spectroscopy (RS) was used for the first time to investigate the uniaxially deformed exfoliated nanocomposites of polyethylene (PE) and modified clay (Na+-montmorillonite). The limiting orientation parameters of PE macromolecules in these samples were evaluated. The PE macromolecules in trans-conformation, localized in the amorphous phase of PE/clay composite, were found to be better oriented in the direction of drawing than the same macromolecules of a ``pure" PE manufactured and deformed under the same conditions.
