GENERAL PROPERTIES OF THE EFFICIENCY OF BREMSSTRAHLUNG GENERATION AND POLARIZATION OF PUMPING-FIELD HARMONICS IN PLASMA OBTAINED BY PHOTOIONIZATION OF THE GAS OF EXCITED HYDROGEN-LIKE ATOMS
Authors:
K.Y. Vagin.

Abstract:
Nonlinear analytical dependences are found for the efficiency of bremsstrahlung generation and for circular polarization of the 9th and 11th harmonics on both the strength and the degree of the circular polarization of the intense pumping field in plasma obtained by the photoionization of gas of excited hydrogen-like atoms by this field. Using the 3rd−11th harmonics as an example, general laws of nonlinear threshold phenomena are considered: the bifurcation of the complete circular polarization and the realization of the maximum efficiency of the harmonic generation by the pumping field with polarization other than linear. The conditions are determined for the most efficient generation of harmonics having the prescribed polarization properties.
