Title: RADIAL ACCELERATION OF CHARGED PARTICLES UPON PROPAGATION OF INTENSE LIGHT PULSES Authors: A.L. Galkin, V.V. Korobkin, M.Y. Romanovskii, O.B. Shiryaev. Abstract: It is shown that during self-channeled propagation of intense laser pulses in matter, electrons may be accelerated to high energies by the ponderomotive force and ions may be accelerated as a result of the Coulomb explosion. The method of calculation of the parameters of accelerated particles is elaborated. The electron andion energies may reach ~1MeV. To attain the maximum effect, the laser pulse duration should be ~300fs. The radiation of a titanium-sapphire laser with pulse duration of 30 fs is of little efficiency for ion acceleration. The energy spectrum of particles in radial cross sections is analyzed. The results of PIC calculations agree with the description of relativistic striction within asymptotical hydrodynamics, which is evident from the qualitative agreement between the electron density and the form of the Schrodinger mode.
