Abstract:
Using an analogy between optical and mechanical phenomena, a new approach is developed to the description of gravitation. To this end, in an expanded (l+4)-dimensional space G(l,4), gravi?tational effects are considered such as the second space velocity, red shift, radar echo, deflection of light, and displacement of the Mercury perigee. The methods of the expanded-space model are shown to yield the same results as the general relativity theory. Various methods of introducing the refractive index correspond?ing to the gravitational field are discussed.
