Abstract:
Temperature dependences of heat capacity C(T) and heat conductivity K(T) of MgB2 are measured in low-temperature and Tc regions. In addition to the well-known transition to the superconducting state at Tc ≈ 40K, an anomalous behavior of heat capacity and heat conductivity is observed in the region of lower temperatures (T ≈ 10K). C(T) and K(T) exhibit anomalous behavior in the same temperature range where MgB2 shows up a negative thermal expansion. All the observed low-temperature anomalies are associated with the presence in MgB2 of a second group of charge carriers and its transition to the superconducting state at Tc2 ≈ 10 - 11K.
