Abstract:
Characteristics of induced particle oscillations in the field of two plane waves are obtained by numerical simulations. We have con?sidered the case of small-amplitude oscillations of particles cap?tured by the wave, i.e., particle oscillations in a potential well near its bottom, under the action of a weak plane-wave field. Using the calculated Lyapunov exponent for the velocity of di?vergence of initially close phase trajectories, we have investigated the dependences of quantitative oscillation characteristics (ampli?tude, dispersion of deviation, average energy) on the plane wave parameters and found correlation with the character (regular or stochastic) of oscillations.
