Abstract:
In observations of radio-wave scattering, a precursor, i.e., a narrow region of sharply reduced scattering arises at the inner boundary of the transonic transition region of the solar wind. The mechanism responsible for the effect is analyzed on the basis of solutions to plasma equations describing the reaction of laminar plasma flows to perturbations.
