Abstract:
This is a first report on an experimental observation of stimulated light scattering in artificial opals, i.e., stimulated globular light scattering (SGS). The scattering spectra were investigated in opal matrices with unfilled octahedral and tetrahedral voids and in globular nanocomposites in which the voids between the globules were filled with molecular liquids (acetone and ethanol) before single-pulse ruby laser excitation. The studies were carried out for ``forward" (zero-degree) and ``backward" (180-degree) scattering geometries.
