Abstract: The collisional contribution to the nonlinear wave interaction in a weakly collisional plasma is determined to be insignificant for a relatively weak intensity of the pump field. This is shown to be realized when the velocity of electron quiver in the electromagnetic pump field exceeds the thermal electron velocity divided by a factor large for a weakly collisional plasma. This quantity is the fourth root of the product of the thermal-electron free path relative to electron-ion collisions and the wave vector characterizing the wave interaction.
