Abstract:
A new way of formation of spherical "molecules" is proposed using not the well-known disclination transformation of a flat surface, but a self-assembly of hexacycles initially rotated around the common edge through 36? relative each other. The hexacycles themselves are composed of rods upon an interpenetrating joining together of noncrystallographic clusters of 27 atoms (T-clusters) in the [τ01] direction. The method proposed was used to construct spherical clusters with 80 vertices and I_h and D_5h symmetries
